Ask The Experts - Choosing a Pool That Fits Your Needs

There are many question and details to consider when choosing a pool for your backyard. We take to time to ask a few of our Pool Expects what their thoughts were on choosing a new pool. David VanSant of Aqua Pro Pool & Spa, Ric Reineke of The Pool Guyz, Ken Lauro of Florida Concept Pools, and Frank Bowman of Splash Pools LLC were more than happy to share with us there opinions.

David VanSant states, “When picking a pool ask yourself what you will generally use the pool for once it is completed?” This is a great question to get you started. Will you be using you pool for entertainment, relaxation, swimming laps and exercising? Do you have children that will be using your pool? David also says to always remember Viking’s Lifetime Warranty. If you have small children, the pool will still be there when they are grown.

“There are also lifestyle influences and budgets to consider,” says Ric Reineke. A reputable pool builder has been in the game for some time and has seen many different circumstances before. They know how to handle them and can explain in detail why you should buy a particular size and type of pool after review many aspect of your life, such as family size and yard size.

Ken Lauro shares that you should first check your property survey to determine your allowed pool area and to place your pool in a location with the sun exposure that your desire.

Frank Bowman points out that you should choose a pool design that fits with the architectural style and create an extension of your home, outside. “A freeform pool with palm trees, while nice, may not be the best choice to put behind a home with ultra-modern architecture”

Ceramic Core Technology

The heart of every Viking Pool is its ceramic core. The ceramic core is created from a proprietary process using a combination of ceramics, silicates, resins, polymers, and specific additives to create a swimming pool with unsurpassed durability. The ceramic core is actually an additional layer of protection above and beyond standard fiberglass pool design and construction.

Ceramic core technology was first introduced into the swimming pool market in the early 1990’s. Since that time, over one hundred thousand swimming pools have been installed throughout the world with ceramic core technology and are performing to specification. Tens of thousands of those pools containing the ceramic core have been manufactured by Viking Pool and installed throughout North America and the Caribbean; many of them installed in the most difficult of conditions.

By adding together the complex mixture of components contained within the ceramic core, Viking is able to offer a product with greater structural strength, more impact resistance, enhanced expansion and the construction properties, and better waterproofing characteristic than more traditional fiberglass pool construction. The manufactures of the ceramic components list some of the advantages of their technical data sheets as offering less shrinkage and warping, improved physical properties or strength in molding, casting, and laminates, reduced water absorption, and improved chemical resistance. These are all characteristics that any homeowner would want in a swimming pool.

More layers, using greater structural and waterproofing components, equals better long term performance. Independent lab tests showed that Viking Pools having a flexural strength of 41,796 P.S.I.

Viking Pools added the ceramic core later to give homeowners greater peace of mind for their investment. Viking recognizes that a swimming pool may be one of the largest investments you will make in your lifetime. Because of this, you expect it to perform to, or exceed your expectations.

The ceramic core is one of the many reasons that Viking Pools offers a Lifetime Structural Warranty. As long as you own the pool, regardless of State definitions on lifetime warranties, Viking will stand behind out products with a true lifetime warranty. We also offer a one-time transferable warranty program in the event you sell your home. Unlike many other manufactures, Viking does not limit the number of years on your structural warranty.

As the largest fiberglass composite pool manufacturer in North America, and the only one offer ceramic core technology in North America since 1995, you can rest assured that Viking Pools understands how to build a pool to meet and exceed your expectations.

Lifetime Warranty

In 1991, Viking Pools introduced its Crystite® finishes to the North American market. At that time, no other US manufacturer was offering any other colors except White and Light Blue. In fact, up until about four years ago (2006) almost no other manufacturer producing pools in the United States offered anything but White and Light Blue.

In the nineteen (19) years since the introduction of Crystite®, Viking Pools has manufactured, and our dealer base has installed, over 40,000 Crystite® swimming pools. The performance of the Crystite® finish has been outstanding relative to fading and durability.

Because of that exceptional performance over the past 19 years and the additional accelerated weather testing that has been performed to ASTM standards, Viking Pools offers a 20-Year surface warranty on all of its Crystite® and Diamond Series™ fiberglass composite swimming pools.

Viking's Crystite® and Diamond Series™ finishes are a complex formulation of layered gel coats, colored flakes, sparkles and colored resins. The specific formulations create an available color palette with actual three-dimensional depth which transfers more light and color back into the pool water than other colored finishes.

As the largest manufacturer of fiberglass composite swimming pools in North America, Viking has produced more colored fiberglass composite pools than all other US manufacturers combined. You can enjoy peace of mind in your backyard knowing that your product is backed by the industry leading 20-year surface and Lifetime structural warranties.

Eco Friendly

Here is reason number 2 why Viking Pools fiberglass pools are Eco-Friendly!

Since our fiberglass pools do not rely on steel panels or steel mesh/rebar for structure, they do not have the potential to leech chemicals and rust back into the groundwater as a move conventional constructed pool would.

Ask The Experts - Keeping Your Pool Clean

We asked several of our pool experts what options are available to keep your pool clean. David VanSant of Aqua Pro Pool & Spa, Ric Reineke of The Pool Guyz, and Frank Bowman of Splash Pool, LLC were more than happy to lend their opinions on the question.

David VanSant and Ric Reineke both agree that one of the best ways to keep your pool clean is with an automatic pool cover. “These covers do a great job of sealing your pool off from the elements such as falling leaves, rain, and air-born waste,” says David VanSant. Ric Reineke states that, “If you have the budget for an automatic cover, the savings in heating and peace of mind in safety is well worth the cost to upgrade to this option.” Automatic pool covers are a permanent installation of track systems, either under your coping or on top of your deck, that allow the cover to slide over your pool with a turn of a key.

Frank Bowman tells about a few different ways to keep your pool clean. The first way being the manual way. This way involves time for brushing the walls and vacuuming the pool bottom as needed. The second way is using robotic cleaners. “Robotic cleaners are also convenient—you just plug it in and place it in your pool,” says Frank. The third, and Viking’s favorite, is the X-Treme Klean system. This system is a cleaning and circulation system custom engineered specifically for end pool it is placed in.
