Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Viking Pools had the privilege to work with ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in October to provide a Hydro Zone G for the Grys family in Pekin Illinois. This makes the 14th pool that Viking has provided to deserving families across the country.

This was such a great episode to work with. The swim spa is fro Jake Grys who suffers from severe dwarfism and brittle bone disease. I worked with several companies to make this pool a reality, including In the Swim (Pool Lift & Cover), SR Smith (custom handrails that Jake could reach around the pool), National Pool Tile (Electric Blue Glass Tile - Venus), Chlorine Free USA (Water treatment system), and Fiberstars (White Xenon Light). Of course the installation wouldn't have been complete without the help and support of our local dealer Gary Kieser from The Pool & Spa Doctor in Washington Illinois.

The Grys Family Episode (#612) will air Sunday, January 11th, 2009 at 8/7c on ABC.

Viking Pools Leadership Conference Continued

I personally think this was the best Leadership Conference that Viking has ever had. The company was plesant and the dealers were excited about the new innovations and support that we will be offering going into '09. All of the pictures are on Flickr but here are a few more to enjoy.

2008 Annual Leadership Conference

Each year Viking Pools selects an elite group of dealers to attend a Leadership Conference to discuss new options and opportunities. This year’s conference is at the Hilton Beach and Golf Resort in Cancun Mexico. I arrived on Saturday to finish setting up and reviewing minor details, and the majority of the dealers arrived yesterday. We were scheduled to have a Welcome Reception/Dinner last night out by the pool, but for the first time in 7 years we were rained out and had to re-locate indoors.

Today is activities day and many of the dealers are on a Mayan tour, playing golf, or scheduled later for dinner aboard a pirate ship. Tuesday and Wednesday are all day meetings and the dealers will learn how they can better serve their customers. We think it’s important to reward our dealers for a job well done and educate them on how they can continue to strive for perfection.
